Over the last 3 months I have been involved with 5 GMCs with starting
problems that mostly involve the Neutral/Start/Safety switch. Suggestions
like short the solenoid to the battery terminal are not my sort of thing.
There have also been other questions about how to test the solenoid and
starter to see if they were the problem.
Often folks want to advance the engine to #1 TDC and it is sort a pain to
use the key.
Last week, we went over this on the Phone to get a GMCer running in a
campground, so he could get home.
So I have added an EMERGENCY START SWITCH to my 2 GMCs so that I can tickle
the solenoid ( even at 70mph on the freeway, without trying to shift to
neutral;>) , yep that was me.

I put my switches under a big red snap-down switch cover so I cannot hit it
by accident.

If nothing else, you should know where these connections are, and how to
reach them if you have a problem
