It appears I have struck a common thread. Thanks to all who have offered help for my situation. After reading all your posts I feel much better about my trip. I have decided that my arrival dates for Florida are fluid and something that I can change due to the weather. Self imposed pressure.
I have received off net offers of assistance, should I need it, on the way down. Confidence is an excellent motivator. This net rocks.
