Hi Guys and Gals;

I, too, have had my run ins with ethanol.  in Canada, regular fuel is now 10% ethanol and it really doesn't like the mostly metal fuel system.

I've noticed in the past year or so that the previously pristine inside of my fuel cap is now showing quite a bit of white corrosion.

I've had fuel filters clog with rust particles, too, causing me some grief a couple of years ago while on a trip around Lake Ontario.

I've resolvedt this issue, mostly, with the regular use of fuel stabilizer.  Up here in the GWN [Great White North], we have cycles for our toys.  Bikes and coaches in summer, snowmobiles and blowers in winter, so stabilizer has been a regular part of my garage inventory.

The past 2 years, I've adopted the practice of filling my tanks at the end of a trip and adding stabilizer when I knew I wouldn't be using the coach for a couple of weeks or more.

The net effect seems to be that my filters no longer are turning rust red which would tell me that I'm preventing corrosion from forming in the tanks.

It's costing me about $40-50 dollars per season to maintain this regimen.  It's a lot better, though, than changing filters on the side of the highway.

JWID.

Blowing so hard here this morning that my temporary garage broke the cables that held it to the ground stakes and blew up into a tree.  didn't hit the car that was in the garage at the time, though.  My lucky day, I guess, huh?
