Tom, I have a 2005 XB which I have been very happy with. I'm not sure what has changed in the 2008s. The 2005 XB had to be a standard shift. There are two or three XBs that I have noticed on the GMCNET pages. I probably can't help you on the tow setup because I took the bumper cover off and fastenned the tow hooks to the subframe, then reinstalled the bumper cover with the hooks protruding through the cover.
