This past weekend I ended up changing out the rear break/turn signal
bulb with LED bulbs. A friend of mine that was following me a couple
weeks ago was complaining that the lights were a bit hard to see (I did
not see it when I did light checks, but.....)
The front bulbs were changed out a while ago when I had to change out
bulbs and the bases were fused into the socket. It was just easier to
punch out the existing socket and replace it with a plastic one so that
the bulbs don't break off again and I originally planned on changing out
all the bulbs to LED.
Now I did not notice before changing out the rear bulbs if the
directionals were working but they were certainly not working after
putting in the LED bulbs. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on
this? My first though is that the relay running the directions finally
decided to die (not sure where exactly it is, but I need to poke under
the dash to see if I can find it). On second though I started to think
that the problem might be that the LED bulbs don't have the resistance
that the incandescent bulbs have and as a result the relay is not
functioning because it depends on the resistance from the incandescent
bulbs. Anyone have any experience with this?
