Kathy and I are tentatively planning a trip to Corpus Christi in mid to late January and We are looking for suggestions on camping locations. We are pretty much set up for dry camping and have a kind of low budget mindset (okay, we're CHEAP) so we wouldn't mind camping on the beach (free) or at a national seashore campground.

I am a bit concerned about the beach camping, not knowing how well packed the sand road is, I do drive in dirt quite a bit, going to the sand dunes, etc, but that is normally nice and dry and even so, traction can be iffy. We do have the 4WD Tracker to pull/push if needed, but would rather not have to do that.

Any suggestions or experiences to share?

Thanks
