Yesterday I drained my fuel tanks because the fuel was old and weak and I’m planning to go over my entire fuel system. I bought some gates fuel injection hose to replace the short rubber line 8” from hard line to throttle body. In doing so of course some fuel got on the outside of the new line. Today I went to remove that “new” hose piece and I ended up with a thick black mess on my hands. The hose felt slick and sticky on the outside. I cut open the hose and it didn’t seem to be doing the same inside. I looked up the hose Gates 4219BF and it states it’s compatible with gas. I’ve never had to deal with injector hose but I thought the only difference was pressure strength. Any idea of what’s going?

I’m thinking the exterior is just not as resistant to gas as the inside layer. Just never ran into this before.
