Well, here's my application for the Rubber Hammer Award; it should make me
imminently qualified:
For some reason, stimulated by a discussion here a while ago, I ordered one
of the Standard Motor Products FV7 fuel pump inertial switches (
bit.ly/2CnRzvr). I don't really know why, when the GMC's already protected
with a low oil pressure switch and the EFI time-out function. But, I did.
Finally, today I considered installing it, so I examined it for the first
time. I found that the included wire was connected for Normally Open (NO)
operation (after pressing the rubber-covered reset switch) and became
Normally Closed (NC) when rapped on a hard surface. I wanted just the
opposite operation, so I disassembled the switch. That's easy to do: the
rubber cover peels right off and goes on easily, and the white plastic
switch housing has two easily-defeated attachment lugs.
When I got the white plastic cover off, I saw two little metal devices
connected together with a tiny spring. I SHOULD have taken a photo right
then -- but didn't. Now, I've got those 3 little pieces out and can't
figure out how to re-install them. HELP!!! Has anyone else been
brave/dumb enough to do the same, but smart enough to take the photo?
Without that, I seem to have added another expensive piece of useless junk
to my very large collection.
Ken H.
