We are safe and upright and have 50Amp AC, so other than being a little short of potable (I should be able to fix that in the morning, we are in pretty good shape - All things considered.

We are hold up at A-1 towing which is at the intersection of US-17 and SR 27-29 in South Carolina. This is very near Exit 21 on I-95 if you are looking at a map.


Now, the story....
We waited a long time for the right guy to show up and it was worth the wait.

A Landol 440 (biggest Landol I have ever seen) the showed up after hours of waiting, he looked things over and said he could haul us, but he couldn't get us out of the median. He called for reinforcements. What showed up next (after a bit of a wait) was the second biggest wrecker I have ever seen, do not think that this is any kind of a slam. These two guys were just amazing. I will be honest here and say that I am very accustom to having to tell people how to do what I need done......
This was not the case, these guys know how to do what...
It did not hurt at all when Mike (the Landol driver) showed me the picture of his friends GMC. The Wrecker driver also knew all about GMCs and together they worked in close concert to get Chaumière back to the road way so the Landol could pick her up safely without extending the known damage.

There is considerable collateral damage to both the running gear and the coach, but the failure was the lower control arm. That pulled the drive axle out of the inner CV joint, and then there is the damage caused buy plowing the furrow in the median. The radiator is out of place but does not seem to be leaking, in fact I have not seen evidence of anything leaking. (Hope - Hope)

So, I will need at least a right lower control arm and a drive axle. I have heard that you can unload a torsion bar by just letting the control arm down. If that is the case, can someone please confirm this. If it is not true, I am going to have to locate or get shipped in an unloading tool. Craig Lechowicz has everything I know I need, but he is in Michigan and that is about 900 miles away. I have other mail and notes coming in that I have not read yet. Isn't GMC net a great place to be???

I am looking forward to a good night's sleep and a bright morning. I am ingesting a chemical that should not be in motorfuel because I know it will aide in the sleeping. I will soon have enough that a keyboard will be a challenge and I still have to walk the dogs.....
