I recently installed Dave Lenzi’s new rear disk brake kit. I had a 4 wheel disk brake from TSM (The Streetrod Mfg. CO)
It has worked well but it had 11 inch disks and Dave’s has a 13 inch disk with dual piston calipers — very large. It was actually designed for a large heavy truck with dual wheels.
I installed the new system on my mid axle and eliminated the brakes from the rear axle. I have better braking with just the single disk on the rear even when towing my toad in the mountains of Colorado..
I am waiting for Dave to finish his caliper for the hydraulic parking brake and then I will add that. His disk brake kit already has a place to mount it.
I decided to switch to the new DOT 5.1 Brake Fluid. NOTE: this is NOT a silicone fluid. It is compatible with DOT 2, 3 and 4.
I flushed the whole system and installed fluid made by Wagner. There is a bargain on Amazon. $11.98 for a 32 ounce container with free shipping if you have Primer. Much, much cheaper
that I have found 5.1 anywhere else.
