I finally pulled apart my onan, and the field coil is bad. I located where it where a wire was eaten through, but broke off one of the leads into the coil in the process. hold them together and I get the 38 ohms, but i am not sure how a person could even go about repairing it, especially where I broke off the feed lead, and what other failures maybe short behind it.

So I am now looking at my options..... fix, replace, or??

I know my options for replacing and that is a possible route. Even if I do replace, It would be nice to fix my onan as the engine runs well, and could go to someone else.

I will be contacting Coop and probably Sirum to see what they might charge for a used coil, if they have one. bugger is heavy for shipping.

Any thoughts?

Thank you
