This is an update on the Propane inspections and regulations for Motorhomes in Ontario Canada.

After the Sunrise Propane explosion and fire in Toronto in 2008, the TSSA (regulatory authority) brought in a number of changes to propane regulations in Ontario. As a result of this and increased fines, many people wanting to fill their motorhomes with propane have been refused service because they did not have an inspection sticker. This inspection sticker was for propane powered vehicles, not for vehicles with propane only for on-board appliances.

The TSSA then proposed a 5 year inspection cycle on Motorhomes consisting of an inspection of the appliances by one facility and an inspection of the piping and tank by another facility. Being as there are less than 25 inspection facilities in the province and some 25,000 licenced motorhomes on a 5 year cycle that was absurd.

Here is the TSSA's Advisory posted May 7,2018 which states that Motorhomes are exempt from the stickered inspection.

I would suggest that owners in Ontario print out the TSSA's Advisory and keep it in the motorhome. I just feel many refueling stations either do not fill enough motorhomes to remember this exemption, or did not bother read it closely. When in doubt, they will go for the sticker because the fines are huge.

Just thought this would be good info to post.
