Well, I figured out why I have what looks like two lines going to my kitchen sink. When the water heater was put in (who knows when) to replace the furnace (who knows why) they setup the cold line originally going to the sink T off into the water heater fill, then the line coming from the water heater Ts into the hot side of the sink, thus feeding the bathroom with hot water.

Anyway, I tried what I thought would be easy task of putting in a new sink, single basin same cutout, deeper by a few inches. this meant cutting into the top drawer, I easily shortened that up, slid the side over to the middle so now it's half the width. But, when it comes to the drain, of course it doesn't line up. Adding in two elbows to get it over and to the drain pushes the ABS plastic down, and come to find out, the input of the sink drain to the pipe that goes down to the black tank is almost as high as the sink drain itself. Meaning, water doesn't drain... Why on earth is the drain to the tank not 4" lower? Has anyone else put in a deeper sink and had this problem?

I'm off to the hardware store again to see if I can get a ABS to PVC threaded connection and hook up my flexible PVC pipe. With the stock J trap out, I think I can hook up something that won't push the whole pipe so low the water doesn't get out. But sheesh...

some photos here. not included were my constant "phone a friend" photos with "what the hell do i do now?"
