Just a heads up since most everyone here already has a GMC motorhome.
I will be seling the Yellow Rose soon. The reason is to provide funds to make the 1976 GMC Edgemonte road worthy.
We have not been to GMC rallies over the last several years because the coach sat in Houston-refusing to run. My transporter guy was out of action due to being electrocuted and recovering. Finally got it trailered up here to College Station, then no one who knew anything about GMCs to work on it. Through trial and replacing everything I could think of in the fuel and ignition systems, I managed to get it running. Now its a matter of fine tuning a few things before releasing it to the market. I am even waxing it. I still do not know what the original problem was! As an unskilled mechanic, I just did what I could and something worked-eventually. Here is what I have done recently:
carb rebuilt, Jim Bounds/ repl. coil and coil wiring/ repl. fuel punp, Jim Kanomata/ repl spark plugs/ adjusted electric choke, Jim Kanomata instructed, Points already electronic so unchanged/ changed three fuel filters, repl. fuel selector valve, added 15 gal fresh fuel, repl. 2 six volt battteries, started and ran Onan generator, repl. engine battery, rotated one air bag, replaced one air bag with NOS from Jim Kanomata, replaced 16.5 wheels with 16 inch steel wheels (sorry, Alcoas stay with the Edgemonte), repl. w/s wiper blades, repl. some clearance light lens; before storage, replaced carpet so it has not been used since. Currently, replacing material on the entry door, upper and lower.
We have receipts for everything done since 2003, separated by year and totalling over $30,000. Also we paid $14,500 for it in 2003. Of course, about $3000 of that was for 7 new Alcoa wheels and 7 new Bridgestone tires which are now too old and not road worthy. So the buyer will have to buy tires and replace the air compressor. The dash air and roof air will need servicing but I believe only evacuate and refill with new freon as dash compressor was new just before storage.
Over all, a very good entry level coach with rebuilt suspension, rebuilt engine (has rebuild tag), "J" valve cylinder heads, tranny gone through by Manny at Jim Kanamota's place, aluminum intake manifold, rebuilt carburetor, new refrigerator, through the bumper trailer hitch, modern water pump and converter, aluminum battery tray, pull our battery tray at generator, powder coated range top, pleather "donut", the buddy seat up front, all cushions replaced by PO and dry cleaned by us, as mentioned-new green carpet with runners for protection-no dogs, non smoker, repainted to original yellow color. It has served us well with trips from California (it is a Cal coach having two fuel canisters for the fuel vapor) within the state then to Las Vegas for our first GMC convention: from California to Houston, Texas from Texas to Pueblo, Colorado and to Amana, Iowa for GMC conventions while pulling a 6x12 trailer with GMC parts. It will be priced at $12,500.
