IF someone were to pry against the rolled edge of the reservoir on the power steering pump, despite multiple forum warnings not to pry against the reservoir, and then there was a seeping leak that shows at the bottom of the pump...what got screwed up?

I found this link that describes some factors in finding a replacement

I found this link that has great pictures of the internals
http://www.corvette-restoration.com/restoration/motor_and_transmission/060813_power_steering_pump_rebuild.htm

Is it simply that the reservoir twists against the pump and breaks the seal? Will a rebuild kit be enough to seal it back up?

And how are you supposed to lever the blasted thing to begin with. Book and forum say don't use reservoir but use stub behind pulley. I couldn't figure out any combination of any screwdriver or lever that could grab the sloped chunk.

This seal kit is actually in stock near me:

Autozone (part #6053) and Advance (20-6883) say they can get a Toronado pump, but it will take a few days. First read of forum sounds like some special trick to move current pulley to new pump, and pump outlets may be in the wrong place. Supposed to leave for spring break trip Sunday. Thoughts, suggestions, and general calming advice is always appreciated.
