I pulled the inner fenders on our coach to replace the exhaust gaskets. (Right side blew out) Simple enough to do. Decided to do a detailed cleaning and inspection while the manifolds were off and the block was easy to get to.
I've mentioned before that as far as I can tell we are the third owners of our coach. Some of the PO work was very well done and some was really shoddy.

At some point the engine has been apart and out but I don't know what was done or when. Which brings me to the latest discovery. There are 2- 7/16 bolts which connect the top of the trans to the rear motor mount. Doing a visual, I noticed a gap between the drivers side trans flange and the mount. The bolt was sticking through the trans flange from the front. No problem, I'll just grab the bolt then realign the holes and put a nut on it. But, the bolt won't move. Okay it's wedged against the web. Up to the inside with an assortment of pry bars.
Standing on my head... No luck.
Guess what... the trans flange is threaded. Why would someone thread a bolt in backwards?

1 1/2 hour after I started, I've got the bolt in correctly and tightened. That is a trick in itself as you can't or, at least, I can't get both hands back in there to get any leverage.

I love my GMC.

Edit to add: I would have taken pictures but thought it was a nothing deal.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.
