Southern Oregon rarely gets very cold or supports more than a dusting of snow once a year. This year has been different. We are sitting here in more than a foot of snow and ice and temps well below freezing for the last several days. My understanding is this winter storm is headed east and will hit those of you in the normally balmy SE in the next day or two. Sorry for that. We tried to keep all that stuff here on the Ecotopia coast for all our global warming friends but it somehow got away.
We hope now that it is out of the barn that it will quickly move east so we can leave for our normal snow bird jaunt to the SW and Mexico. This year we will be towing using an auto trans car and a tow dolly for the first time. I will report how it all works out when we get back with real road experience. The tow car is a Fiat Abarth, a snarly little dude that lives up to its billing - at least as much as I can assess with the limited snowless time I have had driving it. At just 2500 pounds and 144” long it seems ideally suited for a GMC tow car, but It sits so low to the ground on 205-40/17 three season tires that I had to build up the platform on the tow dolly to keep it from scraping on the front member. Unless the snow and ice clear quickly we will be doing most of our shake down cruise stuff while on the road south next week.
