Taking the GMC and towing the 35 Dodge Brothers pickup to the Fleet Week Speed Festival this weekend at NAS Coronado in San Diego. They turn the runways at the Air Station into a race circuit and will have two days of vintage auto racing plus a car show. About 300 racers entered so far. Also have a great static display of military aircraft from the NAS as well. We are staying overnight inside the NAS in the RV area adjacent to the racetrack. Entering the Dodge in the car show they also have. Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band (Forrest Gump) are playing on Saturday afternoon.
We went to this event when it first started maybe ten years ago and had to do very little paperwork for security to enter the NAS to stay inside overnight. This time it was a lot so I guess they must have really tightened up security at the bases. Even had to give them my “Alien Registration Number” off my Green Card and a photo copy of my Canadian Passport. I thought the U.S.N. trusted us Canucks :)
