I know this may fly in the face of many out there, and possibly get me evicted but please consider my latest crazy idea.
I love the layout of the GMC, we have an Eleganza 2, it has been sleeping for about 5 years now. Life is now letting us get back into travel and waking up the monster has been slow and challenging. We looked at travel trailers, and like the idea but none of them have a layout and design that works for us. I will continue to get the GMC running, but a major issue like a rusty frame or bad drivetrain will be a deal breaker. If this happens what to do with it then becomes a question. I still think taking the body off, cutting it to about 20 feet and putting it on a new trailer might be neat. It would have to get a front section made but that is not a big deal. Has anyone else considered such insanity? It is a very strong body, has lots of windows, is aerodynamic, and has a tough enough roof to carry my big 200# kayak. In addition pulling it with a diesel pickup would be very easy and cheap on fuel.
I saw a fifth wheel conversion years ago, actually just pictures. Anyone else out there have crazy thoughts like this?
Thanks
Randy
