I sent everyone’s comments concerning the Hydro-Boost braking system to Bob Stone. As you know, he developed, manufactures and sells the system through Jim K’s Applied GMC.
Bob doesn’t use a computer and asked me to post these basic comments in response:
1. Bendix says the vacuum system on our coaches would not be used today because its capacity is 7,000 pounds GVW.
2. The GVW capacity of Hydro-Boost is 18,000 pounds.
3. The goal to get better brakes.
4. Reliability is a constant with Hydro-Boost because the pressure is constant vs. variable with vacuum.
5. Bob fully agrees with Rick Denny’s statement: “Too much can be modulated but not enough has no cure.”
6. The object is to have maximum braking force for all 6 wheels without locking up (with the front braking slightly first).
7. He is open for suggestions for any improvements in his system and is willing to install and test them on his own coach. 2,000 pounds pressure is available.
8. Test drive a coach with Hydro-Boost, you may like it.
