Hi Carl,
Way easier to buy a Dish receiver with the the Winegard Pathway auto sat bundle. You can turn it on for use or off for no charge whenever you want to. We have used this setup from MX to (right now) Radium Hot Springs in Canada with no issue. This one small auto sat finder will pick up HD, local stations and everything else powered right over the coax cable. Five or so minutes from the time you place the sat finder with a clear view of the southern sky and string the coax between the receiver and the Pathfinder and you are watching your favorite programs. If you are not going to use it for a while just call and they will put the billing on hold for you. If you really want local channels where you happen to be, just call them and in a few minutes they will add those for you at no cost (so long as you subscribe to local channels).
I have used both Dish and Direct and much prefer Dish because they broadcast everything on the same frequency. direct uses different frequencies for HD from SD and locals so you need a much more expensive multi LMB receiver to get all three on Direct.
The Dish receiver I use in both coaches is called Winegard Pathway. We also have Dish at home but leave it there. Too easy to use the Pathway. I sewed a carry bag that holds the receiver, remote and HDMI cable to go from the receiver to the TV. Another bag holds the RG6 coax and the security chain (small welded link dog run chain). When we change coaches it is easy to move both bags, the Pathway and the flat panel TV from coach to coach. We store the flat panel TV beside the PS seat in the Royale and behind the PS seat in the Clasco. Both bags hide out of the way beside the DS seat against the wall. Couldn't be easier.
The large Visio (Costco) flat panel tv usually sits between the seats on the Clasco and either on the kitchen counter or hanging in the rear lounge in the Royale.
