Both my A/C units are Dual/Therm. See no reason for new one's. Took both off to clean. I don't think total removal is required. But mine got the mouse work over as everything else did. I think the PO ran both A/C units without air filters most of the time. That was just another mess to deal with. New filters at Walmart. Cut to fit are 96 cents. A power washer, soap, water, a soft brush, and a condenser comb got things in good order again with both coils in each A/C unit. The blower motor can be lubed up to some point between VIN 617, and 860. These number are the last 3 in the VIN of 1978 GMC's. Note that this could vary. ( Checking your's to confirm is suggested. ) After that point the bearings are sealed from what I've found. The inside, and outside covers got coats of the correct colors. New decals from Jim K at Applied. Now bothy look like new. Side note. New frig from Jim K at Applied goes in tomorrow. Bob Dunahugh 78 Royale.
