Guess I'll ask the Net.

I had a similar experience this last Thursday. It sure seemed like vapor
lock. I had gasoline from last year in the tanks. It was fairly warm that
day. After refilling with fresh gas on Sunday, I ran 75 all the way home,
but it was a lot cooler Sunday. I installed a Carter 4070 electric fuel
pump a couple of years ago, and it really helps with vapor lock. Just
flip the switch, and the symptoms go away. Anyway, that is my best guess
from here.

Hi, Y'all
Any idea what might cause a 403 to falter on a 5 or 6% or greater uprade
in 1st or 2 gear? Don't know if it happens without the tow'd, as we
nearly always have it with us,
and I don't know if it would happen before the coach gets really warmed
up. Motoring along, at 55 or 60 on the flat, come to a hill and the coach
starts slowing down, shift to 2nd and the engine starts to act sort of
like vapor lock (ambient temp around 70). Coach slows down more, and if I
have to shift to 1st....same thing. It keeps acting like it will die
right there. So far, I ve been able to get to
the top of the hill, but it sure seems like I'm not going to make it, and
if
I'm not in the far right lane, I can't accelerate to get there.

This time it was on the way home from the Cascaders Tulip Festival in
LaConner, WA.
Fresh gas at Costo in Federal Way, on the way up and back, so it probably
wasn't old stale gas, and the electric fuel pump didn't make any
difference. Doesn't happen except on steepish hills, like the Canyon Rd.
Hill out of Portland to Hwy 26, and some of the hills on I-5 and other
places. I noticed it a little last year, but it's getting worse. Had all
the fuel filters replaced, and a new mechanical fuel pump, but no joy.
Darn.
Thanks,

RonC
