The door itself is ready to weld except to fit a piece of aluminum in the window area of the donor door. This evening I attacked the door frame. Starting out by reviewing photo's of the last time I did this. Making that first cut with a reciprocating saw to a GMC that has a gorgeous body, and paint job was extremely difficult. My goal tonight was to cut the lower right corner of the door frame loose. That is now done. The sections of the door frame, and door came out of a 73. I've been very surprised how different the parts of a 73 are from a 78. The interior framing was changed. The 73 is slightly stronger, with the outside skin thicker. The last time I had later doors to work with. They were identical. In this case. The 73 door is .073 of an inch taller. I can correct that. There's a huge difference in the body rocker area. As the 78 is much stronger. And the threshold plate was changed. But I can make it work out. Or I can cut that part out of the convertible if I have too. An hour, or so tomorrow will have the door jam out.Bob Dunahugh78 Royale
