Semi decent past couple days. Headers, new mufflers and associated piping, aluminum covers for both the final drive and tranny!
Everything went fine for the most part, a couple gotcha's and thoughts:
- Both the final drive and tranny covers were very dirty. I could scrap machining debris out of the final drive cover with my finger nail. Make sure and thoroughly clean before installation.
- The final drive cover comes without a drain plug, reuse your fill plug from the factory cover. The threads on my new cover required clean up with a tap before the existing fill plug would fit/start.
- My Ragusa Transmission Cooler was shipping with-out the necessary bolts, you cannot use your factory as they are too short and hex heads don't clear the new housing. Takes (13) 5/16"x1" allen head bolts, 3/4" might work but after a 3 hour trip around the entire city all I could find was 1". Ended up costing an extra $20 as I had to buy half stainless to find enough.
- The Ragusa drain plug bolt was too long and dented the filter pick up about 1/8" before I noticed. Wacked a few threads off on the bandsaw, problem solved.
I might have to take a video of the final drive fluid that came out, , it looked like 500w gear oil, nasty and black as raw crude. I suspect it's never been changed in 102k miles.
