Front Roof Cap Assembly repair [message #293795]

I need to make repairs to the front roof and would like input from folks that have done this. The torpedo style running lights were fastened to the roof by drilling a 1/2" hole in the roof and using wing-type drywall anchors. I am thinking about patching all the holes (10 at least) and using another fastening method. All input regarding process and type of repair material is appreciated. Also, tips for new fasteners would be nice.
