At Rapid City I got a bargain on a pair of Honda seats. Today I
decided it was time to try mounting them on the electric bases I've
had under the current seats for 17 years. Removing the passenger seat
proved to be a challenge -- I had to pull some tricks when I installed
them. Even had to resort to a nut cracker on one of the 8 bolts.
The next challenge was removing the base from the Honda seat. I
couldn't figure out how to remove the plastic trim without damaging
it, so removing the 6 nuts was a 5* at a time process. The base is
now separated from the seat, but I can't figure out how to remove the
4 cables which control the floor latches and operate the manual slide
locks. Certainly I can cut them, but I'm reluctant to do that -- it
could turn out that someone else winds up with these seats and wants
those feature.
Has anyone figured a way out of that dilemma? If I could just
disconnect the cables from the latches, the rest would be easy, but I
can't figure how to do that.
How about removing the plastic trim -- is that possible without damage?
