While traveling the 2000 (+) mile journey from Rapid City, SD to Lake
Wales, Fl I Checked the Trans Fluid on my 77 Birchaven and found that it
was "low". Later found that the dip stick was grossly mis-calibrated.
Long Story short, all was Okay.

That said, I was reading the THM425 Troubleshooting booklet published by
Hydramatic Div of GM. Two diagnostic tools were discussed at length.
Transmission OIL pressure and vacuum supplied to the Modulator. I'm going
to upgrade my dash with Ispro gauges and could include transmission Oil
pressure and vacuum.

Would the expense and effort to include these monitoring devices be of
value to avoid a transmission MELT DOWN? What is the consensus of the
Tribe?

Living on a waterfront is not a matter of life or death. Its more
important than that.
