I had a few little things I wanted to do for the GMC. Ruth is tired of the "mauve" color of our dashboard, and pretty much everything else inside the GMC. (Yes, I looked it up and mauve is a color... I only know the 7 that were in the first grade crayon box.)

I got the dash out and then that "doughut" thing. (fun, fun) The padded dash on the doughnut was splintered. I gave Plasti-Dip a whirl and there was no way it would bridge that sort of thing. I peeled that back off.

I tried the You Tube technique of bondo. I am five days into that project. It looks better but is never going to be without cracks. Even feather like sanding disturbs the lack of foundation under it. Meanwhile it is on my work bench.

I decided to try paint on the piece that covers the back of the dash. I had some Krylon pewter gray and it went on well. Ruth said the color was "OK". I went back to my local hardware-lumber yard to get more. They no longer carry Krylon. THey have Rustoleum Meanwhile the dash pieces are hogging up room in the barn.

I tried some enamel on the piece that is below the dash. It separated and made little craters. The spray tip on the rattle can was horrible. The bag is hogging up room until I go back to the hardware.

I went on a two hour journey to find Krylon. Apparently if you carry Rustoleum you don't carry Krylon. Every store I visited carried Rustoleum. Very small selection of colors for plastic. Meanwhile my driver's seat is out and hogging up room.

I went on Amazon Prime. If I wanted Krylon makeup or face painting I would be in business. I finally got four cans of paint on the way but it did not have two day free delivery of Amazon Prime. So, the paint will arrive next Monday. Meanwhile the dash hogging up room in my barn.

The new Derale transmission oil cooler I had ordered came in two days. It came via USPS in a box that I "just opened"... no tape, I just pulled it open. The hose barbs were missing. It is laying on the work bench.

Like Chevy Chase, I decided I could still light the Santa Sleigh and the 8 tiny reindeer. (Christmas Vacation movie)

I started to put on the new fan belts. I got the right alternator size belt so I could get rid of the oddball pulley. Got the belts into place and indeed I would need to change the pulley to get the proper belt to go on. Took the old pulley off with the impact gun... in place. Went slick. Realized I don't have a correct pulley and the one spare dead alternator has no pulley. I ordered a double pulley from JimK and then another belt from V-Belt Global Supply. They come later this week. Meanwhile the new power steering belt I will never use is hogging up room.

Completed jobs... none. Projects, plenty.
