If one is interested in what a new technology GMC might well look like now 40 years later, one needs look no further than the cover of the August 2015 FMCA magazine. Thor has introduced a 26’, 12,500 pound class A on a 194 inch wheel base Ford chassis with a V10 Triton FI engine and Ford 5 speed transmission. 4:10 axle ratio, 225/75R16 tires, 30 amp shore connection, 4kw Onan gas generator slurping fuel from the 55 gallon gas tank, 39 gal fresh water tank, 30 gal black, 40 gal gray, a smallish propane tank (41#), 6 gal propane and electric hot water heater, 30,000 btu furnace and 6 cu ft refer. The major difference from our GMCs is that it is 11’ 3” tall as it has to sit on top of the drive shaft and rear differential. Price is $100,000. Sure makes a $60k to $80k restoration of a GMC look good, doesn’t it? Oh, if we only had a four speed transmission!
