That is the point of my post, Bob. One cannot just throw something inside a reflector and lens designed for something else and expect it to work properly. Hence, these Sylvania units are designed from the ground up to be what they are, and that is one reason they have an MSRP of $500 per pair. Based on my experience with both HID and LED bulbs going into reflector/lens units designed for H4 bulbs, my guess is these are superior to most of those and likely superior or equal to the best of the halogen units as well.....with the added benefits of lower power consumption and long service life. Let us know what you find over time with these good looking units.
One good analogy is the old coal oil or kerosine fired lights employed in light houses would not throw enough light out to sea to matter until they were mounted behind a Fresnel lens. Then they became a God send for mariners wishing to stay off the rocks.

I agree with what you say but these are not LED bulbs in a regular headlight. These are fully sealed LED units with lenses designed accordingly. Now
are they better than a high end H4 system--maybe not. Generally I have found Sylvania lighting products to be pretty good.
