The new crop of LED work lights are quite impressive for light output and cost about the same as replacement LED tubes. I have both Snap-on brand (~$35 quantity one) and no name Chinese versions (~$20). The Snap-0n is definitely brighter. I may try a distributed bank of these when I build the garage for our second GMC. I have 6 CFL photo bulbs (150 watt equiv if I remember correctly) in our current garage and they do an adequate job of overall illumination in that application. The LED work lights appear to put out even more light so a bank of 6 to 10 should be enough.

Sean,
How do the LED 4' tubes compare (light output wise) to the T8 &T12 tubes they replace? I've been looking at several different LED tube replacements and so far haven't been impressed with the light output. I'm hard to please in this area as I've played with overdriven fluorescents for my aquariums and was impressed with the amount of light output. Of course life span and heat become a problem with overdriven fluorescents. Not something I would do for my warehouse lighting.
