Hi,
1977 23ft, transmode, rear bath. Large V8 engine with carburetor.
Bought the RV few months ago, drove it from G. Valley to Yuba City (about an hour drive) & I've been living in it, parked by my friend's house. I have started it & ran it few times but haven't driven it.
It is on Non Op. It passed smog last time in 2012.
I have 2 questions:
1- For those who live in California....I hear that it is possible to register 25 yr old vehicles as Classic with the DMV and pay a one time fee of $25. And they give you Yellow Plates/classic plates.
Now, I got conflicting opinions about this...some say you can only drive it to shows and can't park it on the streets. Some say you can.
Does anyone have an expert opinion/knowledge about this?
Last thing I need is to be towed by the police for parking on the street or driving with it having the Yellow (Classic) plates on it.
2- The RV seem to drive find, no issues.
In order to pass smog (and I am not saying it will not pass), this is just as a pre caution to make sure I don't waste $70 on a smog check and not pass.
Is cleaning and re-gaping the spark plugs helpful towards passing smog?
I know I should warm the engine up before the test.....how much or how long of a drive does this require?
One place told me I should replace the gas or use it all up & start with fresh gas. But the rv has about 20 gallons of gas in it, maybe more and I am not planning on driving 200 miles just to use up the gas.
Does anyone have recommendation that will work towards insuring it will pass smog?
What about additives like B-12 (to the gas) or the "Pass smog" additives sold in Walmart?
They also would need to do Evab test when I take it for smog test.
Thank you for your help.
AJ.
