That is correct, Rob. The issue is once you turn on the fan and then turn it off the lid will automatically close forcing you to manually open it again. I also found the buttons on the unit marked, "open and close" do not effect the lid, instead they alter the fan speed. The remote control unit buttons work as indicated. Sounds like someone needs to look more closely at the control design. Great unit, but these seem like inappropriate glitches that should not have passed initial launch QC.

Jerry,

If I'm not mistaken on my Maxx Fan all I do is crank it open manually and the fan doesn't start. I'm not in Humble so I can't verify
that for you but give it a go.
