Hi Carey,

I am not sure you could use these ethanol conditioners on just an as needed basis and have them instantly solve a vapor lock issue due to the configuration of the fuel tanks. I can only comment on the positive results we have adding them to every tank. After a few fill ups you can be sure you have the conditioner mixed into all the fuel in both tanks but just adding it now and then would provide no such assurance. We generally fuel at around 250 miles so I use the dilution rate they recommend for 30 gallons no matter how much actually goes in. Over time it averages out. I pay no attention to mileage improvement claims except over long distances given the variation in how much fuel gets in on each fill up. Non scientifically I can say that I think there is some modest improvement with the Archoil. Given the benefits in no vapor lock I find the cost acceptable even if mileage suffered (which it does not). At the proper dilution rate of one bottle of Archoil ethanol cond
itioner to 680 gallons (IIRC) the cost of the bottle is not significant to me.

Jerry,

This is really interesting. Adding a conditioner to E10 to stop vapor lock, adding if needed. If no vapor lock is anticipated, the no need for the
conditioner, but if we have a bottle or two we can stop by the side of the road and put some in if we do have the beginnings of trouble, it might be
something handy in the bag of tricks to get us up and out of a sticky situation. I don't think anyone but JimK would reach out of the toll window,
open the fill cap and pour in the bottle while driving up a hill! Thanks for the idea. This one is pretty easy to test, it seems. After it mixes in
the tank and the vapor lock disappears, it would be a great testimonial to the product. The only thing that troubles me is the claim some make that
it increases gas mileage significantly. Can't figure how that works. Maybe they were fuel injected and knock retarded, and the additive caused less
knock, so the engine operated with no knock retard and efficiency was increased. This seems kind of far fetched, as ethanol is supposed to have
anti-knock properties by itself. So, the claims it makes on fuel mileage seem spurious to me, but the anti-vapor lock property seems invaluable to
the community, though it isn't claimed in the advertising I saw. Some outboard motor companies recommend use of the conditioner when using E10.

Best,

Carey Bryan
