My daughter Heather has a Honda Fit that could be had cheap. Several GMCers own Fits and tow them. They come in around 2400 or 2500 pounds. She loves hers as a daily driver and say she wants to buy another one.
The only problem with this one is she hit a Van head on. She was doing about 10 and starting a left turn and the van was doing about 55.
She can verify that all air bags worked and when laying on it's side it only does minor damage to the car. After looking at the damage, that car held up very well.
She has a broken collar bone from the seat belt. She also has 2 broken wrists, a broken arm and a broken finger. The ER doc and the Orthopedic doc both said those hand / arm injuries occurred from her holding on to the steering wheel during the crash. She goes in for multiple surgeries on Thursday. The biggest problem is both of her arms are in casts up to and including her hands. So she can not pick up or hold anything. She can not feed herself or dress herself. She is learning how to kick doors open. The Doc says it will be 4 months until all is healed correctly. Laurie and I have spent the last three days helping her learn to do things with no hands. The insurance company told me that we did not sign up for replacement car rental insurance. I asked them who would rent a car to her with no hands available. I changed her toilet today to a push button rather than a lever and may put an electric lock on her front door with a push button of some type with a spring loaded opening feature.
So if anyone wants a 2009 Fit, Heather has one available.
