I decided I'd make window valances like those shown on this photo site.

http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/valances/p4101.html

Finally ran down the company that sells them: Extrutech Plastics,Inc., Manitowoc, WI, 920-684-9650 ext 2603, talked with Karen Vestal. Got them today and they are the correct thing. Unfortunately, there was a failure to communicate and I got twice as many as I need. I told Karen I needed ten four foot sections and she said they would cut ten foot sections in half. Well, they cut TEN 10ft sections in half and sent them to me, so I now have 20 five foot sections, twice as many as I need.

I've been discussing this project with a couple of forum members, off forum, and am going to offer to them first. If they don't want them, I'll offer them here. Total cost for the twenty that I got was $76, plus $32 shipping. I estimate that getting the correct number to do five windows would cost about half that.

Interesting side note, I also ran down the gentleman who originally did the valences. He is a scientist in Canada, and no longer owns a GMC. Very nice guy, called me and we discussed the project extensively. He said it was years ago when he did the valances, and didn't remember all the details, but was very helpful. Typical GMC'er.
