Sounds a lot like a bad starter solenoid. Both the ones on our two coaches were crap inside. No more nice solid copper contacts. Instead, these both had a little bit of sputtered on copper flakes. They will not carry 300+ amps for very long before burning themselves and creating even more resistance for the next start attempt. Seems these $50 (the "best" our NAPA store can source through NAPA now) rebuilt starters are throw away replacement items now. If you hear of feel anything wonky WRT your starter, replace it right now. Easy to do when you are at home and can jack the coach up a bit. A real bitc* to do while on the road in the dirt.

Dave,
Are you carrying a spare starter???
You may need it.
Those were the symptoms my coach showed. Those are typical of a bad connection in the starter circuit. It was something I planned to track down when
I got time. The time happened to be 250 miles from home on a Sunday. Were it not for the black list and friends, we would have been stuck there
until Tuesday noon.
The Delco 10MT starter will keep working much too long for its own good.
