As you all know Olga was going to get new Paterson motor this he motor arrived from Canada and I had hired a higky recommended Scania mecanic to do the job with me as his assistent
From the beginning I did not feel confident
We had decided to take the clip to make it easy to do breaklines and cooler as well and new gearoillines
I could not get him to do it the usual way with the coach standing, pooling the clip forwards and then lifting the house of. No the way to do it wast the lift the whole front on the siderails and pulling the clip out with the forktruck. I felt this would put unnessesary strain on the whole frame.
Well pullig out the clip was not easy ( i guess it never is) but if you forget the exaust connection that is on the torsionbar crossmember and have to pul that to pieces it only gets worse
Oh well the engine went in and out without mayor problems and the giy was good at solving problems that would have let me strandet- like the new front motormount that has threads where the old one has bolts and inch bolts are not readely available here. It was no problem to cut new thread so we could use mm bolts
But he is the kind of mechanic that throws all parts around him on the floor resulting in 1 missing nut the holds the house to the frame one missing large nut that holds the as compressor ( is that the ugly noise I hear when the engine is running ?) 1 missing shroud bracket and 2brackets we do not know where belong

Oh well in the end the engine was running, a bit fast in idle as he did not want to adjust the new Paterson Qjet ( witch is fine , better leave it if you do not feel confident)
The steering wheel was of after he changed the boots( telling me it was easier if I took of the wheel and adjusted that)
he also gave me the broken exhaust mount to fix and the 2 brackets we do know where go
I asked him to testdrive it, witch he reclined I should do that- so I took it around the block and it seemed to ride ok a strange sound, but it is a different, motor and a differnt carb What do I know.
Any way I drive the 30 Mls home and am not happy I do not like the noise, it does not pull right and I feel it s a bit on the hot side over 90C
As I get along she does not change to 3th and I think well maybe we did lose some oil when we changed the lines ( mechanic said before I left that was not possible , and mu logic said he was right)
Then just before I came home I lost 2 as well slowly lugging in to my driveway So I checked the oil and found the stick dry The connection between the new oilline and the new cooler was leaking !
It might all work again when we add oil, but we never know what that has done to my nearly new manny trans ?
The strange noise may go away when I ad the missing nut on the compressor and add the 2 left over brackets the missing schroud bracket
The window wipers will work eventualy when all the air gets out
I can fix the exhaust bracket
I know somebody who can adjust the carb

But right now I feel like walking away from it

Anybody knows where the leftover bracket go, please let me know
