Congratulations on solving the tranny/vacuum problem!

Since you're touring Texas on the way to Montgomery consider stopping at these excellent Texas State Campgrounds.
And if you like astronomy; visit the Mac Donald Observatory near the Davis Mts. Park. "The stars at night are big and...etc.etc.

If you're not short on time The Big Bend State and National Parks are worth a visit as is the Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross University in Alpine.
