John made a good distinction between cams that are. As we say, broken in. An a new installation. It's going on 7 years since the oil with the SL rating was changed to SM due to formulation changes. And it SEEM to be that the hype was somewhat overstated for the daily driver. The SM, SN. and SO have been doing better then first expected. And the drain down time with RV's that set for long periods of time There is a big difference between the engine that is drive every day. To the one that sets for months. The level of ZDDP is still vary important at break in, and long term storage. The oil that I get is from Northland oil. They make oils for John Deere, Caterpillar, Case IH, and other agg equipment companies. The oil I get from them has the C, an S rating. Some oils are listed in that manner. I'm NOT a chemist. I just do what they say.Bob Dunahugh.
