Ok, Here is a topic that I can post about that shouldn't cause hate and discontent amongst the members.
I have been enjoying restoring Bialaddin, and Vapalux English pressure lanterns with my 5 year old son that we use while camping. I use the 300X, and a few M320s. The M320 are MoD English surplus.
Its amazing how one pressure lantern can illuminate so brightly! I have only seen one or two Coleman lanterns I liked. I tend to like Kerosene lanterns since I have to only worry about one fuel source as all my lanterns are kerosene.
I enjoy the English lanterns since they are inexpensive, simply made, have few breakable parts, burn bright, last forever, and run kerosene. I like some of the old petromax lanterns but I only want one brand (Vapalux/Bialaddin are the same brand) so I only have to carry one type of mantle, and a few spare parts and I'm good forever.
Learning to light a pressure lantern is a bit tricky at first, each lantern has its own personality. But once you get the hang of it they light easy.
I also have a liking for Feuerhand german storm lanterns. Non pressure, but the larger ones burn great and the light is warm and rich color. Plus they are high quality, and inexpensive.
Anyone else use any of these types?
