I went out about a week ago to get the coach ready for Branson and the coach would not start. It was a dirty battery cable. So I took them both off and cleaned them with a battery post brush and every thing was fine.
This evening I was back again and while I was there I decided to replace the GEN light that has been out for about 2 years. It turned out to be an oxidized socket connection rather than a blown bulb. When I was done I tried to start it and all I had was click, click, click.
On man, now what? I assumed that the 9 year old commercial truck engine battery finally quit. I checked the battery and found the positive cable connection was slightly warm. I pulled it apart and it was clean. I decided that the brush may not have done the job so I went at the post and the cable with a Dremmel sanding disk until everything was not just clean but shiny.
Woll-ah, that took care of the problem.
I re-greased the connection with anti-ox grease. I did the same to the negative terminal and replaced the battery clamp bolts.
My point out of all of this is clean is not necessarily clean unless both the terminal and post are shiny.
Let's see what else I can break on the coach before Branson next week. I almost always have to fix things twice.
