I had the pleasure of assisting Dan from Seattle this past weekend pick up a 77 Kingsley from wisconsin.
Dan was able to find a couple alcoa's with some good tires on them as well in the midwest.
So Friday night I picked up up at the airport, and we went and fetched the kingsley, and only broke down once on the way back to my place late friday night. isolator was bad, so we ended up with dead battery and getting it to my place on the onan.
long story short, a few tweaks, and Dan was on his way West sightseeing today. Received a call that he blew out a rear tire just outside of Sioux Falls. he swapped to a spare pretty quick on the side of I-90. He had headed a little east from my place sunday, before he headed west. so he got quite a few miles on that tire since he left my place.
We are now thinking maybe the tires are worse off then we had hoped. they are older, but in great shape. The hope of running these while he slowly collects 16" rims is not working out so well.
is there anybody out there in South Dakota that might have some good 16.5? he is thinking of possibly picking up some new... but his long term goal would be to go to 16". so just trying to weigh the options of making it back west without another blow out.
or maybe it could be a blowout due to heat as well. today was hot. 92 and humid there. rest of the week, I think today will be the hotest day.
