So after 300 miles, I took an oil sample and sent it off to make sure my coolant problem was resolved with the new engine. Included a note which explained what had been done.

For those who hadn't been following, I pulled, had rebuilt, and reinstalled my 403 after coolant leaks damaged my main bearings.

Got the report via email yesterday with these words in bold.

SAMPLE CONTAINS ANTIFREEZE AND EXTREMELY HIGH WEAR METALS. THIS SUGGESTS A FAILURE IS IN PROCESS.

Heart failure time. All summer I've been working on this coach and now the 'new' motor is bad...(**&^^%$^%*

%%#@%()^$#^*())

When my heart started beating again, I sent and email asking if the high wear metals could be break in residue and how much coolant was present. Arthur called back yesterday but I was out so this morning I called him.

As soon as I identified myself, Arthur apologized and said he had missed the note I had included explaining what had been done to the motor.

He asked me to run down more specifically what had been done to the motor.

Turns out the boring and honing process accounts for the high wear metals and the TRACE coolant is just residual chemicals seeping from the cast iron.

I'm so relieved I could cry... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
