High Volume oil pumps are a complete waste in an engine that is in good condition, or rebuilt. They are useful if you have add some device that will require more oil to be moved by the oil pump. Or you have a engine that is on it's death bed with bearings that have too much clearance. Oil pumps have relief valves to control proper oil pressure, and volume that is delivered to the bearings, and lifters. All excess oil is then sent back to the oil pan. The more oil that is sent back to the pan. The more excess heat is built up, more load is put on your oil pump drive, and the more hp is wasted in the process.
