Can I hook speedo cable direct to the tranny instead of going through the box on the cruise? [message #217630]

I don't use the cruise control and don't plan on reinstalling it. Can I just hook the speedometer cable directly to the connector on the tranny and bypass the cruise control box? It's a fairly sharp bend in the cable.

Has anyone done this? How did it work?
