I pulled the coach out after it had been sitting for a month. I was out of propane. I thought that odd, so I filled it and squirted soapy water on every fitting on the coach. Nothing but I could occasionally smell gas.
The smell seemed to be coming from behind the refrigerator. It was newly installed two years ago, and I found no leaks.
I have an on-demand water heater behind the frig and decided it must be leaking. I isolated it with a valve but still smelled gas.
I called Leon of National RV who installed the unit and asked if there was ever trouble with a Dometic valve not shutting off. He said he had never heard of one failing.
Leon suggested I shoot soapy water on the hoses themselves. I did and got big bubbles in the rubber line going to the frig. Close inspection showed cracks in a bend in what otherwise looked like a good hose.
So, I suppose we need to look at those more often. Duh.
