If any of you have an FMCA membership you might want to consider signing up for their travel assistance and medical evacuation plan.

Some parts of the plan are free such as arranging things for you, arranging for eyeglass replacement, arranging and shipping of prescriptions, hotel and flight rebookings, emergency cash advance, Legal and Bond assistance, etc., but if you want them to pay for medical transportation, sending of remains, sending a family member to assist you if you are hospitalized, returning your motorhome to home, returning your toad home, etc. then you have to pay the annual fee of $85 for an individual or $105 for a family. They even pay for the fuel and driver for the return. If you want a friend to do it they will pay the fuel and tolls and pay $100 per day to your friend. This even covers your grandkids if they are traveling with you. They told me it would also cover other adult family members that are traveling with you.

I just signed up for this because my wife and I are taking an Alaska cruise in July. The travel agency suggested similar insurance but it is much, much more expensive and would only cover the one trip. The FMCA plan is good for a year.

You do not have to be in your motorhome for the coverage. For example, it will also cover the trip we will take next week flying to Michigan to attend a Grand daughter's high school graduation.

My mother died in Florida in January and it cost a lot of money for my father to have her remains shipped back to Michigan. He is a life member of FMCA but neglected to sign up for the insurance when they changed the plan and no longer made it free as part of the membership.

I think the $105 is a real bargain for what they cover.

As we are all getting older it might be more important for us to have this coverage.
