Some heads-up for Anyone in the Alberta area wanting a Caddy 500 for a transplant:
I was in the Edmonton Pick and Pull this afternoon and the was a good looking 76 Eldorado in the line-up. HMMMM?
It was complete at this stage (Less Carb) with a 500. I quickly looked around it and the clock had approx. 56000 kilometres although I suspect it rolled over to 156000 km (Approx 100000 mi.)
The car was really in pretty good shape and had been painted at some time and looked bright. (Treated very well) It had been badly vandalized with the interior slashed and minor body damage. (Maybe even stolen). It would not have been insured so the owners made the decision to get rid of the car because of the price to repair that kind of damage. Insured write-offs go to liquidation and are bought up by wreckers and other bidders, not Pick and Pull.
I say all of this because, I suspect the drive-line is not the reason it got there. It would be an excellent transplant candidate for somebodies GMC. (of course it would need to be evaluated once it was out) I’m not interested in doing a caddy 500 transplant because I have other dogs in the fight, and I just finished overhauling my 455. (Also no room to store another engine).
Pick and Pull engines and transmissions are the same price (Cadillac, Chevy, or Lada) Cheap!!! However: you have to pull it out or have it done. (There is a person that will do parts removal, advertizing at the local Pick and Pull)
Those of you who know Pick and Pull, know that what's there today may not be there tomorrow!
